Happy Birthday Dad, chicken feet, and a thought from President Monson
Hello, how is everyone doing?
It has been raining here a lot as well. It seems that it is impossible for anything to get dry around here. In order for my shoes to get dry I have to put them overnight in front of a fan. And every morning everything is coated in a nice layer of moisture. And I thought Maine was humid, I guess I was wrong.
I am glad to hear that the boys are at EFY and enjoying themselves. Is EFY this year in the same place as last? They are going to have so much fun. So this week has been another adventure. It is funny because we live in such basic conditions, to keep ourselves entertained we do the funniest things. On the streets we make up songs, get attacked by Jehovah Witnesses, and any other things you can think of. You wouldn´t elieve, yesterday a member who lives on the other side of our area provided us with our lunch. So we walked about an hour away. When we got there it was all prepared and ready for us to serve ourselves up. I got rice, beans, some pasta, and then I opened up the pot of chicken.... And in it was like a full chicken that had been stewed until it all fell apart, feet and all!! Yeah it was gross....
But on a more spiritual note, we have been teaching this awesome family. The wife has a problem with smoking, and has wanted to stop for a long time. So we got really strong with her, and gave her a lesson on miracles. We set a date for her to stop(last saturday) and told her that we would fast for her. So we did, on saturday we went and taught them, one of her friends convinced her to smoke one cigarette, but when she did, she gagged, and almost threw up everywhere. Now she says she will never smoke again. Pretty cool right? Dad, I love the pictures you sent, what is up with those boston hats? They look kind of funny with those huge b´s. I especially love the pic of the lady with the mullet, that is one of the things I miss the most about working down in OOB. Remember when that older couple walked in and the guy was wearing her bikini.
So HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Are you guys going to do anything fun for your birthday. I am sure mom would like to go to Cape Cod, or go to New York to go see a broadway show. Or just stay at home and beat her kids with a wooden spoon.
We got a new oven this week, and so this morning my companion made some potato bread, and later we will use some of the dough to make some skones. I was thinking, do you think that Aunt Pam could make me a copy of the Lynch family recipes and mail it out to me? And also could I get recipes for those key lime pie, tres leches, and flan?
Let´s see here I wrote the Bailey´s a long time ago, mmmm.... I did it through mission ties, but I will send them a regular one this week along with a letter for the ward. I sent a letter to Kendra last week so she should be getting one soon. I haven´t got any packages yet, but I don´t get mail until friday, when I have interviews, so until then. I am excited about these butterfingers that are coming.
Hey dad, could you find for me those talks that you always listen to. Like The Profile of a Prophet, that Maturity Talk, and the Talk about Managers vs. Leaders??? Well I hope you have a great week, and I hope everyone is doing well! I hope you enjoy some pictures that I am sending of my house!
Love, Elder Harry Kenning
Alright my thought, Though the storm clouds may gather, though the rains may pour down upon us, our knowledge of the gospel and our love of our Heavenly Father and of our Savior will comfort and sustain us and bring joy to our hearts as we walk uprightly and keep the commandments. There will be nothing in this world that can defeat us. My beloved brothers and sisters, fear not. Be of good cheer. The future is as bright as your faith. - Thomas S. Monson May 2009
