Avacado smoothies, needing packages, and an awesome spiritual thought
Hey family!
How is everyone doing? Enjoying your summer so far? Well here in Brazil it has been strangely cold. Yesterday I wore my thermals around proselyting, and right now I am wearing my big overcoat. I look pretty funny with it on, because I look like such a outsider.
Thank you so much for the recipes! I will definately use them. What I have been mainly eating has been different forms of pasta. Our oven doesn´t work right now so it has been hard to bake anything, but we will be getting a new one this week, so hopefully I will be able to make some pop overs. Yeah food is really cheap here. I have 50 reals to spend each week for food, or only 25 dollars, but I get by just fine. It is only hard when we need to take a bus anywhere. That is an adventure in itself, taking city buses. And I thought buses back home were crazy! But anyways the cheapest food here is bread, limes, and avacados. The avacados here are huge, they are as big as my foot, and only like 50 cents to buy. Limes are also very cheap, so at home almost every night we make a avacado smoothie with avacados, limes, suger, ice, and some water. It is really really good. It sounds weird but it is awesome.
Our baptism for last sunday fell through, he chickened out, and felt that he needed to learn more things before he was baptized. But we have made a new date which is coming up pretty soon. Brazil is so funny when it comes to religion. Apparently there is a big church around here who base all of their teachings on Christ, and surfing. In Portugeuse the verb andar means to walk, but it also means to ride. So in the scriptures when it says Jesus walked on the water, they interpret it as Jesus rode on the water, or Jesus surfed!! People are so crazy down here.
My language is coming along quite well, I am starting to teach the lessons more fluently, and my contacts are getting better. But I am still so far away from being fluent. I can´t wait though, things will be so much easier to accomplish when I am fluent. So the difference of the addresses are: the first one is the actual mission home, where the President lives. If you send mail there I will get it eventually, it just takes longer. The second one is the mission office, where all the business is taken care of. Thank you for those pictures you sent, but dad i am still waiting for the picture of the lady with the mullet! All I want is just a sample!
So how is the ward doing, how is Costa doing? Everyone still hanging on?
Hey dad, could you do me a favor and send me some information on some topics like: Recognizing body language, our Priesthood lineage, and any good conference talks that you had during your mission.
So some Cd ideas, well you can be traditional and get MOTAB, but that gets boring after a while. Some Cd´s that are approved are Disney Soundtracks like Tarzan would be good, send Son´s of Provo, Josh Gorban, Phantom of the Opera, Lord of the Rings Soundtrack, Pirates of the Carribean Soundtrack etc.
If anyone asks you what they could send as care package let them know I would really love american candy, bathroom supplies, peanut butter, syrup, cake mixes, etc. Well I need to go! I love you all, and I hope that everyone is doing great!!!

Spiritual Thought: There is a lesson in the Prophet Joseph Smith’s account of the First Vision which virtually every Latter-day Saint has had occasion to experience, or one day soon will. It is the plain and very sobering truth that before great moments, certainly before great spiritual moments, there can come adversity, opposition, and darkness. Life has some of those moments for us, and occasionally they come just as we are approaching an important decision or a significant step in our lives. -Cast Not Away therfore your confidence -Jeffrey R.
