Skin chips
well hello! Good morning! How are you all doing this week!? Its been pretty crazy here lately thats for sure haha. Its transfers this week. My companion is leaving for Petropolis tomorrow and I will get a new companion. His name is elder Capela, he has about the same amount of time on the mission that I do to. He is Brazilian thats all I really know about him. I will be picking him up at the bus station tomorrow morning. Itll be interesting thats for sure.Ill have to be in charge for a little while here in Grajaú 1. Im pretty nervous but pretty excited too! No need to sweat. Anyway, ill keep you more updated on all that next week. This past week has been pretty good though. Hard work has definitely paid off. We´ve had a ton of lessons, we have about 3 families right now who are date for this month too. They seem pretty solid, im pretty stoked for them and the coming preparations that will need to take place. Its pretty cool, because each of those people on date are new investigators. We found them contacting or door knocking. They let us in, taught them the gospel and asked them to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be Baptized! They accepted! Its pretty amazing, there is no way that could happen in Ohio haha its awesome. Its pretty interesting though.
On Wednesday we went on divisions with the other elders in Grajaú. The two brazilians were together and the two new americans were together again in the other area. We got so pumped, we wanted to show the other missionaries that we can actually do something haha. Considering both of us hardly know the language, new to missionary work and especially the area we knew itd be tough. We didnt let it get to us though haha we went nuts that day. Had 5 lessons, put a new on date and knocked doors the rest of the night. It was so much fun! I had such a blast! It was a miracle all that happened, Im happy it did though haha. Definitely one of my favorite lessons I taught was during that time, we just had so much fun.
The next day we had a nice service project at a members home, they live on a nice sized hill where the member had a huge mud slide come into his house, and the back space between his house and the cliff.. literally 5 feet tall, 4 feet wide of clay.. This project has been going on for about acouple months now. My second time doing it, Each one of us had buckets, we filled the buckets up with the mud walked all the way down a series of stairs and ramps to a dumpster and put it all there. It took forever and still isnt done. The other elders brought an investigator who is 15. Two hours into it, he got bit on the face by some massive bug and broke out in some crazy thing.. we had to quit and rush him to the hospital. He is okay, pretty crazy though. Defintiely one of the hardest projects ive had to do.
Other big thing was yesterday! We had conference, it was held in my ward building. It was awesome, it was a broadcast from Salt Lake to a bunch of stakes here in Brazil. Elder Scott, and Ballard spoke to us, and some other are 70´s. It was awesome, i could understand everything they were saying too. A lot of it was focused on families and strengthing our families through the gospel and living the gospel. It definitely was really good. Its been good ive been able to understand a lot more of what people say and then to be able to respomd back has been a lot better haha. Definitely not perfect that for sure or even good, but its getting better. I cant wait for the day when I become fluent in Portuguese. Itll be the best day ever. Seriously.
Everything here in Brazil is going good, everyone is buckling down for copo do mundo! the streets are painted streemers are all over the streets and every house has a brazil flag. Its actually pretty cool, ill get some pictures this week for you guys. Nothing too special will happen for missionaries during the games, except when Brazil plays we´ll have to return to our house. which will be terrible haha Thats really about it. Itll be quite the experience this week with the world cup. Itll be hard to get in houses, and teach people because they will be occupied with that and just people here will be crazy and drunk.. in my area usually is how people are anyway haha sometimes pretty crazy..
Crazy food this week.. hmm, probably was some meat I had! For lunch a member made a platter of meat, I wa slike yes! Meat! so I took a lot.. I bit into it and a huge crunch happened, i didnt realize it but it still had all its skin on it, it was like skin chips.. then It began to like stab the inside of my mouth. I look down at the other meat on my plate, it had hair on it! Little prickly hairs coming out.. made my throat itchy haha thats really about it, nothing too terrible. the food here is good, I really like it. Which is always a plus. Wel thats about it for the week! Hope it wasnt too borring for you guys haha. Hope you all are doing well, I love you guys! Ill talk to you guys next week :)
