Reassigned to West Virginia Charlston Mission

How's everyone doing!? This week has been so cool, and crazy and every emotion thrown into one week haha. It's definitely a great time to be a missionary. The work has hastened more than it has ever done before, and I'm getting thrown right in the middle of it all. It's incredible. So as you all know I'll be serving the people of West Virginia starting Tuesday! I leave pretty early, my flight departs at 8:35 from salt lake to Dallas TX around 12:25, then I have a good hour lay over where I fly out around 1:20 to Charlston West Virginia! I land around 4:25. My branch presidency encouraged all of the missionaries to call home in the airport. So i'm thinking of calling between my layovers since before my first flight will probably be too early. It's pretty exciting though, I dont know how West Virginia is really, except that I heard it's full of farmers and "hicks" you could call them haha I was talking to Brother May the 1st counselor in the B.P. he said "when you get there you gotta watch out for all those moon shiners.." haha it's going to be pretty cool over there. Just got to teach about the Word of Wisdom even harder over there haha.

Yesterday we had In-field orientation for all the departing missionaries. It started at 8 in the morning all the way till 5:30 in the afternoon.. It felt so long but it was so needed. It was pretty cool we had multiple classes and opportunities to teach investigators and practice street contacts. I must say though, it is extremely hard to teach the lessons in English, from day one I have learned and Practiced lessons in Portuguese. It's going to be such a struggle when I get back home. I'll just completely forget the english language.. whatever haha.

On Wednesday I was able to be another Host missionary again! That was pretty fun, I was able to be a mentor for the day to 5 different missionaries. It was pretty sad at times because I'd be waiting there at the curb for a new family to pull up. Every family that pulled up I'd open the passenger side door up for the mom and every single mom was just balling their eyes out.. And so were the rest of the family.. It was pretty hard because I didnt know what to do.. It was a cool experience though. Later that day My zone received new missionaries! Finally. We got one from Samoa! My whole residence hall is filled with samoans.. They just party it up all night singing and have a blast. I sleep on the basement floor near the vending machines and they raid that thing every night.. It's pretty hard to sleep sometimes haha We've done some tie exchanges where i'd trade a tie for a LavaLava haha literally the most comfortable thing ever. I lounge around the residence hall with it on and it's just so great..

All is well here in the MTC. Nothing too special is going on lately. Just studying my heart out.. Getting ready for the field. It'll be pretty hard to maintain my knowledge about to language out in west virginia because I wont be soeaking Portuguese but I'll keep chugging along just like what Major Payne says :) Hope all is well for you guys, I pray for you all every day, Thanks for being there and supporting me. I wouldnt be here without you guys! I love you guys! Talk to you soon!

Love, Elder Kenning

Spiritual Thought: So i'm in Ether in the B.O.M. Going to finish the Book of Mormon later today. I found this passage in Ether 12:3-4 "...Hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men..." Faith needs to anchor us down, by faith all things are possible through the Lord. Faith is Key to our salvation, it is an action word. We must act upon our faith in Jesus Christ and his works.
