Elder Kenning's 19th birthday
Good Morning everyone! How are all of you doing!? Sounds like Florida was a blast! Looks like it from the Pictures you sent! Kimball I'm pretty jealous, Busch Gardens looks like it's a ton of fun. All of it sounds fun! Haha mom I'm doing fine.. what I meant from being in the Hospital in Ohio was that this is where Elder Barney and I go to write emails.. We werent in any form of danger or hurt in any way haha I feel bad now, I didn't clarify all that well. This week has been craaazy! So much work to be done.
The Portsmouth area here in Ohio is really slowing down, really hard to find investigators and if we do have investigators they dont follow through a lot of the time. Our main focus this week was to increase our teaching pool, and to find those "elect" investigators. A lot of the past week was simply contacting and door knocking. We had lessons planned, we taught a bunch of them but a lot fell through.
So Saturday was my Birthday! Didn't really feel like it to be honest.. I did receive the two packages from you guys and loved them so much! Elder Barney and I loved the Jelly Beans, we keep trying to make combinations and try them out haha. On Saturday we didnt have much lessons because they all fell through, In the morning though we had missionary correlation meeting at Bishop Cox's house. It's pretty cool its right on the Ohio river. One of the leaders brought a cake with candles on it and they sung to me there which was really nice of them to do. After the meeting we headed back home, and we decided to go through our area book and try and contact old investigators. We did that from 1:00 all the way to 6:30.. All door knocking. It was pretty fun though gained a lot of funny stories from that haha The areas down here are really sketchy, and not safe to be in after dark. So we really tried hard to get everything done before the night came. We were walking up High st. on our way home and some man yells to us across the street and says "You two wearing white shirts, and black pants around this area isn't a good Idea, you two must be Christian boys" I replied "well sir, we are! Would you like to hear about the Mormon church!?" By the way this guy was completely drunk, he was chugging down like cans of beer and he didn't seem to well lets just say haha He thought he didn't need a church because he believed in God already, and that going up in the woods with his rifle and beer and just sitting there is his church.. The guy was hilarious. We knew he wouldnt retain any of the info we wanted to share so we just agreed and kept walking haha
A lot of the people down here love there church, there are so many different churches down here it unbelievable. Thats a huge set back in the work because they are so set on there course that they dont want to hear another one. It's all good though, we will keep working hard and help the people as much as we can. It's a good time to be a missionary! Love the work and the people I get to serve.

Spiritual thought: Helaman 5:12 Build your foundation in Christ, if you are built up in Christ and have that testimony you will not be swayed by the power of Satan.
