Two Sacrament meetings and moving to a new house
Hey Everybody!
How is everyone doing way out in sunny Maine? I am glad to hear that everyone got home from Scout Camp just fine and everyone had a great positive experience. Next year it is going to be Elder Kenning taking everyone up the mountain. That is such a bummer that were a lot of tourists there this year, but it was the week of Fourth of July...
Anyways... whats new around here. Today I moved my house. We were living in an apartment, but it was way to small for us. Also we take care of two wards here (because of the lack of missionaries) so we found a bigger house that can hold another companionship of missionaries. Isn´t that so weird that I am taking care of two areas, I don´t know if I have said that before, so I have to watch two sacrament meetings, worry about two bishops, and all of the meeting in between. We have been asking President to put another set of missionaries in this next transfer. He said he would, I sure hope so because we need it!
This past week sure has been incredibly busy. Thursday we had a leadership council in the center of São Paulo. That took up our entire day. And Friday we had interviews with President. But they were not just ordinary interviews. We did house inspections of every single missionary in our zone. So Pres did the interviews at their houses. It was really cool because I got to travel with President from place to place. We were at one missionary´s house and the doorbell rang. I went downstairs to see who it was and it was the JWs. So they started talking to me and I let them say their scriptures and their quote. He then asked me if I had any comments, and I said I did, I then whipped out the restoration pamphlet and went to town. At the end he had no words. He tried using scriptures on me to prove that the church wasn´t true, and that their church was. None of them worked. I didn´t even need to use my bible. It was awesome.
In my area there are so many crazy churches here. Crazy pentecostal, and baptist churches. All that the churches are concerts. ( By the way Jake I got a little trunky when I heard you went to the Jack Johnson concert..) So these churches are either concerts or scream-a-thons. The members of the churches think that they are feeling the spirit and fall to the ground and start having seizures. I am dead serious, and they think it is something from the Lord..... right.....
So here in mission language we call the women who are out to get you ´´snakes´´. Yesterday I got snaked. We were teaching a family and there was a young women there who kept on staring at me and my companion very awkwardly. We kept on teaching the lesson but she kept on staring at us... She is actually really ugly, and very creepy. We left the house quickly and marked with the family to come back. ( The family is actually really good...) She told me and my companion under her breath, will you come back here tomorrow to visit me? We said nope, and started to run. I like to call these moments ´´righteously awkward moments of truth.´´
Mmmmm.... What else.... Nothing much. Just the same old saving the world everyday. Did the ward like the letter I wrote? I love you all!!! Take care!!!
Love,
Elder Harry Kenning
