Returning to normal
Hey everybody!!!
How is everyone doing? Things are just awesome down here in Brazil, finally we
are out of the holidays, and we can return to work like normal. During
Christmas, and New Years everyone was travelling or having company over, and so
no one wanted to let the missionaries in. And plus everyone was having parties,
and drinking a ton, but things should be getting back to normal now.
I was playing with the ipod, and I found all those videos that dad took. The
house already looks different, it dosen´t have the plasma screen tv anymore,
there are a ton of couches, and the basement looks awesome. I am excited and
sad. I really loved workign on the basement, and I wanted to help finish it, but
oh well, there is still the jam room to work on.
Dad, a special thank you for putting the ´theme song´ on the ipod. I use it wake
up every morning now. Everything was absolutely perfect. Thank you so much. And
now I should be expecting another package already? For my birthday....Dang I am
getting really old. Now is this package a different package than the one mom
said she was sending with the frisbee, and the memory card?
Dad is right about my P-day, so generaly it will be on a tuesday, and the next
transfers will be Jan 26th. One week after my birthday. It would have stunk
really bad if my birthday had landed on a transfer.
For colleges, I want to apply to Southern Maine, BYU Provo, and Boston
University. I think I will do a semster or a year at Southern Maine, and then
transfer either to BYU, or BU. I am not sure yet. I am still not liking the Utah
culture. But who knows, things could change a lot in a year. The strongest point
about BYU is that there are mormon girls there, that have the same standard of
dating. But in all colleges there are strong institutes, but I still don´t know.
Nothing much is new going on here, my comp is still driving me crazy, but you
know, you need to take the bad with the good.
Well I need to get going, Love you all so much! Until next week!!!
Love,
Elder Harry Kenning
Spiritual Thought:
Alright, from now on I will try to give a thought on what me and dad are
studying this week. So this week I wrote up a big paper on Mathew 3 - 5
Don´t worry I will only write a part of it.
These chapter are about the bieginning of Jesus Christ´s ministry. The things He
did to establish His role as the Savior of the of the world, are clearly stated
in the chapters. Jesus Christ had to start off on the right foot, He couldn´t
mess up.
This is why He sought John the Baptist, because he had the priesthood of God. He
had the authority to baptize. Christ needed to be baptized, not because He had
sins, but because He needed to fulfill all righteosness. But still Jesus Christ
was perfect, He was the most righteos man on the Earth. But In John 3:5 it says,
except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter in to the
kingdom of God. So to put it simply, if Jesus Christ wanted to return to God, he
had to be baptized.
Jesus did not do any miracles before His baptism. His baptism unlocked the
mysteries of God, it granted Jesus Christ power to be the Savior of the World.
And how important is our baptism for us? Do we really uphold and keep our
baptismal covenants? Baptism isn´t just another bath, but it is an act of faith.
Through baptism we are telling our Heavenly Father, that we want to follow Him,
that we will help each other, that we take upon ourselves the name of our Savior
Jesus Christ. Let us all reflect on what really is our baptismal conventant, and
how important it really is in our lives.
Mosiah 18
7 And it came to pass *after many days there were a goodly number gathered
together at the place of Mormon, to hear the words of Alma. Yea, all were
gathered together that believed on his word, to hear him. And he did ateach
them, and did preach unto them repentance, and redemption, and faith on the
Lord.
8 And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of
Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are adesirous to come into the
bfold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s
burdens, that they may be light;
9 Yea, and are awilling to mourn with those that bmourn; yea, and comfort
those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as cwitnesses of God at all
times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death,
that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the dfirst
resurrection, that ye may have eternal life—
