A new companion- Elder Chiararia

Hey Everybody!!
Holy cow this week has been incredibly busy. This week has been transfer week
and so here in the office we have had to organize everything to make it all went
smoothly. Also I got a new companion. His name is Elder Chiararia. My other
companion left. My new comp is pretty cool, he is going to be the next Executive
Secretary (or Fleet Coordinator)
It has been really rainy here. You can´t tell the difference between winter and
summer. The really only difference is if it is the rainy season or not. Right
now it´s the rainy season, and it has been raining a lot. Our house is starting
to have problems with a leaky roof, because of all the rain.
Tuesday morning I had the opportunity to go to President´s house to do a
training for all the new elders that are arriving from the MTC. I was pretty
nervous because it was all in Portugeuse and it was in front of President. I
had the chance to explain how everything works in the mission, how all the money
works, you know everything in general. It was pretty nice. I thought I did a
good job. There was only one American there, and when I wasn´t presenting, I was
translating for him. That is one of the hardest things ever to do, thinking in
two languages all at the same time, listening in Portugeuse, and talking in
English.
We have been having problems with getting Visas for the American missionaries.
For some reason none of the Elders from Utah are able to get visas to come here
to Brazil. Everyone else is able to. It is all very weird. And the majority of
the American Elders are from Utah.We were expecting 19 new missionaries from the
USA to come here to our mission. But none of them are able to come. They are
just stuck in the MTC.
My old companion left everything a mess here in the office. All of the baptismal
forms, all of the referrals, everything, is really unorganized. So I have had a
huge headache this week trying to get everything cleaned up and organized. It´s
been stressful because I want to the job the right way the first time. And I
have little time to get everything organized, this Monday we will have another
meeting with President.
My area is going well, we have to be very efficient with our teaching if we want
to have any success. We have a good teaching pool, and have a 64 year old man
who is progressing toward baptism. His name is Ruben, and he has already read
until the book of Helaman. He has been to church, and we taught him the word of
wisdom yesterday. He has no problems with it, and he is already married! He is a
golden investigator. I am so excited. Missionary work is so awesome. It´s sad
because I don´t have too much time on my hands to do the real mission work, but
when there is a chance I love every bit of it.
Well I need to get going, I love you all, and miss you a ton!
Love,
Elder Harry Kenning
