Elder Scott, City of Santos, and packages received
Hey everybody in good ol´maine!!! How is everyone doing?
I sure hope that everyone is still crazy... So how am I doing, that is the question of the hour isn´t it.
Well last Saturday was awesome as you could have guessed. Elder Richard Scott had an awesome meeting with all the missionaries in our mission. Just for your imformation, he is a really short guy. But before he started the meeting he wanted to shake the hands of all the missionaries, and he wanted them to say our name and where we are from. When it was my turn, I said, Elder Kenning, Saco Maine. He replied oh... that´s different. I guess that´s true there isn´t very many missionaries from our good old state.
We then proceeded to do training on using the Book of Mormon to prove the 1st of Joseph Smith, after some Elders demonstrated what they had prepared, and then we critiqued them. After he then did something completely different that he had never done before with any other mission. He gave us some points that he had learned in his life that would help our lives in general. He can speak fluent spanish, so he could speak portugeuse pretty well too. It was funny he would be speaking in Portuguese and then switch in the middle of his thought to English, then his translator would help him. I have all his points, I will have to translate them first, and then I can send them off to you guys. All in all it was very spiritual, he seemed to answer every question that I was thinking of that day. After he bore his special testimony of Jesus Christ, that he lives.
Wow... It was really awesome.
So about packages, I have already written about them, well atleast I thought. I have already got the Lynch Family Cookbook, and I am using it like a Bible. I mailed a letter to Aunt Pam a long time ago thanking her for it. I don´t know why, but I don´t think all my letters are reaching there destinations. I have written ´G´, the Bailey´s, the Corbetts, the Bryants, Kendra, Aunt Pam, Grandma and Grandpa, but I haven´t heard anything back yet. mmm.... something is fishy.... But I have also recieved the package of Cd´s (thanks mom for PotO), the Saco ward cookbook, and a package from Grandma. You mentioned something about Sis Bailey sending a package from Seminary, but I haven´t heard anything from her.
Today we went to the city of Santos, and went to the Aquarium there. It was a little lame, because I am used to Sea world, but whatever. Then we went to the house of Surf, where they have tons of surf gear, and there is a museum of old surf boards, etc. It was really cool. Surfing is a really big thing down here, and everyone is like your an amercian, and you surf! Nice...
Well I can´t believe that it is already the end of October, this week is going to be crazy. This Saturday we are going to have two baptisms. Two eternal investigators, that we finally convinced to be baptized. Also next week will be transfers, and who knows maybe I will be transfered. 40 new missionaries will arrive in our mission. We have been missing a lot of missionaries, and we have had to close a lot of areas. But now things will be returning back to normal.
Alright well I need to get going, I love you all so much, and miss you too!!!
Keep on being most excellent to each other!
Love, Elder Hare Bare Kenning
Elder Richard G. Scott: ´The problem with new goals is that people thing they can accomplish them by doing the same thing that they have been doing. If we want to accomplish our different goals we need to do things differently. We need to work different, think different, pray different, study different, and be different member of the restored gospel.´
