Pigeons for dinner, losing weight, and enduring to the end
How is everone doing!
Wow this past week has been totally crazy. That is what is so great about a mission is that each and every day is a new adventure. No matter what I have learned something new this week, or have seen crazy and hilarious things. Sometimes I wish I had an Iphone with me because there are some really crazy people down here. And I wish I could just take a picture of them really discretly and send it to you guys. You would really love it. For example on Thursday we were down in the Favella (ghettos) and we saw this middle aged man with a sling shot. He was aiming for a pidgeon, he shot it, killed it, and was so excited about it. Do you know why? Because he was going to eat it for dinner! Apparently they taste pretty good down here, I am not sure back in Maine, but who knows....
My companion and I are getting there. Last night we had a heart to heart conversation, where he told me I am tired of working, I will work with you, I will work as hard as you do, but you need to take the lead. Talk about pressure! So this area is all up to me, and it is dying. No one will let us into their house, and no one will keep appointments. So we are going to try a different approach, we are going to go through the less actives, teach them and ask for references. Who knows how it will go, but I pray that it will work.
I am still amazed that I continue to lose weight, I am swimming in my suit and my white shirts right now. I eat a lot, well I have a huge lunch, but other meals I hardly eat. I don´t have time. It is kind of funny because on all my belts I am on the last belt hole!
Well this week will be fun and intersesting as well, I will try to send some pictures next week of my apartment. When I use the internet, there are various businesses that sell internet service/online gaming. So every P-Day we go and use one of these computers for about 1.50 an hour.
I can´t believe, well I can believe that Jake got a speeding ticket! How fast was he going and where? Jake, I told you to be careful! So did he get a fine? Mom asks if there is anything that I need here, well if you could send measuring spoons, and cups so I can cook easier (they don´t exist down here, I don´t know why), some pictures of Saco, like the chapel our house, our family, these kind of things so I can show people here in Brazil what Maine is like. It was funny yesterday I was trying to explain what a moose is...a very large horse with antlers... And if you could send some more music cds, that would be great. I would love EFY music, sons of provo, the RM/Singles Ward, Disney Music, and that Jazz music that Brother Smith lent to Jake with Charlie Brown and the Peanuts. But other than that I am set. Is there anything that you guys would like that I could send?
Well I need to get going, I love you all, miss you so much! I pray for you every single day!

p.s.- I forgot I just finished D&C today, so I will be starting the new testament tomorrow, anyone want to race?
p.s.s - a question for Dad - Can other people of other churches have spiritual experiences at their own church, and recieve a testimony of their church?
Spiritual Thought Last week we had Zone Conference, it was about enduring to the end. We all have different capacities to endure to the end. But is soley our own responsibility to endure to the end, we need to be worried about the things that we have control over. If we make sure that these things are taken care of, and we are doing our best, the Enabling Power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ will make up for the rest. 2 Nephi 31:20
