Transferred, a new Brazilian companion, and getting sick
Hey Everyone!!!
I got transferred today, that it is why it has taken me a little bit of time to
get on the computer and write an email. I got transfered to a city called Sao
Vincente. This city is the first discoverd city here in Brazil. It is crazy, I
am by the beach, and all the beach areas are notorious for difficulties, and
crazy stories. So this transfer will be interesting. I am really bummed because
I was enjoying my old companion so much!! But I guess that is how it works out,
right when you are getting settled in you get transfered. My new companion is a
little less than desirable. He is brazilian, and he doesn´t know any English at
all. He has also been notorious with slacking off, and not following the rules.
I think that will only get worse because this is his last transfer, and I can
already tell that he is really trunkey. But what can you do? Our house is really
nice, really big too. But my area is out in the middle of nowhere again, hardly
any civilization (big stores, etc)
I got the package of candies, the cd´s, and kimball´s letter the other day.
Thank you so much.... SO GOOD!!!! The cd´s are awesome, just what I was looking
for, but feel free to send more! Thank you for the emails. Mom you were right to
worry about me last week, because I was really sick. On Wednesday I came down
with a fever, runny nose, and everything else you could think of. And I had to
keep on working. I am better now, but whew, I am glad that week is over. All of
our lessons kept on falling through so we did a lot of contacts. We did 143
contacts last week, and taught only 14 lessons. We want to teach about 25
lessons every week, and we had no investigators that are progressing.
On Thursday I had a follow up meeting with all the new elders called Nova Forca.
It was really good, we did a lot of trainings on how to do contacts, baptismal
invites, and some teaching techniques. Besides being sick it was good to
refreshen and be restrengthened on the basics.
Getting out to this area would have been really funny to watch. I had my two
suitcases which are extremely heavy packed into this tiny bus full of people. I
was stuck right by the door, and our ride was 40 minutes long. Everytime there
was a stop I had to move my suitcases over, balance one of them while they
exited the door. And then when people are done getting off, the bus drivers
takes off really fast, and I fall over with all of my suitcases. It was quite a
site to see.
Well anyways I need to get going. Dad, I do have a question, how do you help an
investigator who is stubborn and won´t come to church until ´God has touched his
heart´. I know he has felt the spirit, but he won´t come to church because in
the past he has said that he won´t. So what should I do?
I love you all, and miss you very much. I pray for you all everyday, both in the
morning and at night. I hope all is doing well, and everyone is having a most
excellent time!
Love,

Tithing: It is like recieving 10 oranges from the Lord. The Lord wants us to
give him 1 in return for tithing, but he will take that orange and make that
into orange juice and give it back to us. And he will give us more orange juice
than what we gave him. I know that when we pay our tithing the Lord will bless
us with more than we can realize.
