First Week in the New Area
Well hows everyone doing!? Im sure you guys are doing well over there at home. This week has been nuts! I arrived here in Barra do Piraí tuesday night. I goit to the bus station 3 o´clock in the afternoon waited all the way till 7 when my bus left. IOt was about a 2 and half bus ride to Volta Redonda. It felt pretty long haha. Ever since wednesday morning we´ve been hitting it hard over here. My new companion is Elder Weverton, he is from Sao Paulo (capital) He´s pretty awesome. He´s such a humble guy and likes to work! Its been great, I can feel that this transfer will be pretty good. We´ve already seen some sucess here in Barra.Yesterday we had a Baptism! It was pretty great, the guys name is Paulo he´s been tauhght for about 2 weeks now when I got We put him on date and really helped him gewt over some obstacles he has. The Baptism was pretty awesome, my companion was able to Baptize him yesterday. He almost got baptized himself haha. Paulo is pretty big, so when he dunked him he almost went under too hahaha. Awesome. You guys wouldnt believe it here. Its so unreal!
You are right mom, doesnt look like there is a ward or a church where I am. But there is! We have a tiny tiny branch that just opened up here about 2 months ago.. We are meeting in a tiny house right now unti lwe get bigger numbers. Its liuterally like a house with everything inside. Yesterday we had about 20 people there in church. You walk outside and the baptismal font is built like a out of ground pool... but to the size of a font obviously. Its pretty awesome. Im pretty stoked to be here in the branch. Everyone has so much excitment! We are going to hit it hard this transfer and grow this branch into a ward :) Im stoked.
This week has been pretty crazy ill be honest, here is so much more different then Grajaú.. I actually feel safe walking in the streets haha. Everyone is nice, and it just looks nice here. The only down fall is that its really really hot here.. Its like im in a oven everyday... im going to be black by the time I leave this place. Its hit past the 100´s lately and its not even summer yet! Wish me luck. My house is pretty chill too, its pretty old. We live in an apartment with one couple above, and below us. There are pretty annoying, there are complaining to prez. about us.. because we turn the fan on in our room.. apparently its been happenning since day one.. haha she´s crazy! So I woke up wednesday, and thursday morning with red bumps up and down my body.. I callesd sister and we are pretty sure my bed had bed bugs.. so its been pretty miserable because im itchy out of my miiiind! Its really bad, all up my back, legs, and arms.. I look like a freak. We are figuring it out.
I was able to eat something pretty intersting this week too. We traveled an hour to a lunch appointment we had friday. We got there and she served pig liver rapped in Pig ears! Ill be honest it was pretty good, I ate three raps. You guys should try it. The people here in Rio are pretty nuts, and diferent. They have the weirdest accent too. Im trying to develope it, so I can be a "native" haha The language is going well. everyone comments to me that im fluent! But in reality im not, far from it but everyday im getting better. This week ill be starting up a english class at the church to teach people, and to help people get to know more about the church! Im pretty stoked! Well I guess thats all I have to say this week, Ill let you know what happens next week! I hope to hear from you guys next week! Good luck, Love you guys!
