Tis me, Elder Kenning with....
Tis me, Elder Kenning with another follow up of my mission.
This week was hard, from trying to get lessons, commitments to coming to church. All of our Investigators had to move the Baptismal date later. On Saturday my companion and I had at least 8 set appointments and every single one fell through. and also on Friday Elder Roberts and I were at the Post office on our way out, and this lady stopped and said hey guys do you have a minute? we said, Sure of course we do! and she went to explain how she is Catholic and was taught by the missionaries and she apparently she stumbled on anti-mormon stuff and what whipping those at us, and I said, that even though our differences of doctrine, we can still help each other build our faith in Jesus Christ, because you don't have to be in one denomination to find faith in Christ and do what is right to the best of your abilities and knowledge, and I dispelled some of what she was dishing out, and It started making her think, and turned from bible bashing to the spirit teaching and right as that turn happened this lady behind me who was listening in on us but in and gave her story about the missionaries way back in the sixties (this lady being 84 yrs old) and how the they were not nice to her and couldn't believe that "God and Jesus Christ cannot appear to people" even tho in the bible god appears to moses and on the mount of transfiguration, but I did not speak because I felt like I shouldn't, and she literally rambled on, and railed the mormon, catholic and presbytrian churches. and said that she is saved by her own merits and told us that we are all deceived and joseph smith is a con artist and said she read the whole quad word for word, and said there were 214 verse in DC sec 88, and there is not for your information. anyways she said a lot of stuff for 1 hour and 35 minutes straight while we were at the post office, and she said she would never talked bad about churches, then she introduced here self as the Director for "Ex-mormons for jesus" a "church" that she goes too. and the whole time we didn't say anything because we couldn't and the spirit was long gone and it made me sick, but the worse....haha. her breath smelt like rotting meat and sausages. and it made almost gag.
But thats my week. I love serving the Lord and being a missionary to serve others.
Spiritual thought.
Matthew 7: 21-23
"Not every on that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
Like it says in James 2: 14 "What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?" then in vs 17 "Even so, faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone"
We constantly have to be doing the lords work and always be converted and every week, take the sacrement to become clean again.
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
