A good spiritual thought today. Thanks Harry. :-)

Hey Everybody!!!

How is everyone doing? I am doing very well actually. I am completely exhausted but I am doing great. Missionary work is awesome, and Jake you are going to love it when you come out here pretty soon. It is the best thing that has and is happening in my life.

Yesterday, today, and the next two days we have been participating in a 4 day leadership training of the whole mission. It is pretty cool because the ´´headquarters´´ of our mission is actually my old area in Sao Paulo. So I am staying in my old house with 6 other missionaries and working a little bit in my old area. It is really interesting to see how much I have moved as a missionary. I have visited a few old investigators of mine, and I talk to them differently, and I understood them differently than when I used to be going there. I can tell that I have improved a lot as a missionary, and I really have the Preach My Gospel focus, which is to baptize.

These past few days of training have been excellent. Today we learned a lot about love. We learned and practiced how to use love in all the aspects of our work, so that our work doesn´t become robotic and lifeless. We have been trying to use the Holy Ghost so that we can pass to our investigators and missionaries the love of Christ. It is an interesting principle that I have never sat down to study, or to work on. But I am sure that it will help me out a lot as a missionary. I think as elders we try to power through everything we teach, or we try to convince the people. But we forget to love our investigators more, and adapt our lessons so that we can help them return back to Heavenly Father.

Yesterday, we learned some techniques on how to follow up with our missionaries and with our investigators, it was pretty good. It is funny that I am one of the older leaders now, and I have to give an example in all that I do. It is a lot of weight on my shoulders, but the Lord is helping me out. Thanks for the prayers!

Things are going well with my comp. We have a lot of differences but things will be working out. He needs to get the vision still, of being a missionary, and he still does a lot of greeny things. But I hope that we will be able to learn from each other this coming transfer.

Last Thursday we did a FHE in a members house. And I thought I would take advantage of my talents and knowledge of mexican food and make tacos for everyone. It was pretty funny, we rolled out tortillas, we cooked the ground beef, and everything together as a family. It was really good because we gained a lot of trust of the investigators, and I hope we will be able to use this trust later on so that we can baptize them.

So if you could get the information of Brother Steuer, I would be most grateful. I am still in the ward of the brother who wants to talk to him.

What else.... Nothing incredibly new, just the same old saving the world.

Brothers... I haven´t heard anything from you guys in a long time. You need to repent and send me a email next week. No excuses. I want to know how is school, and how are the ladies doing.

Well I got to get going. I love you guys a lot!!!! The church is true!

Love,
Elder Harrison James Kenning

Spiritual Thought

Alma 37: 38 - 42

38 And now, my son, I have somewhat to say concerning the thing which our fathers call a ball, or director—or our fathers called it aLiahona, which is, being interpreted, a compass; and the Lord prepared it.
39 And behold, there cannot any man work after the manner of so curious a workmanship. And behold, it was prepared to show unto our fathers the course which they should travel in the wilderness.
40 And it did work for them according to their afaith in God; therefore, if they had faith to believe that God could cause that those spindles should point the way they should go, behold, it was done; therefore they had this miracle, and also many other miracles wrought by the power of God, day by day.
41 Nevertheless, because those miracles were worked by asmall means it did show unto them marvelous works. They were bslothful, and forgot to exercise their faith and diligence and then those marvelous works ceased, and they did not progress in their journey;
42 Therefore, they tarried in the wilderness, or did anot travel a direct course, and were afflicted with hunger and thirst, because of their transgressions.

It is interesting that the family of Lehi had everything they needed to go to the promised land. But because they took things for granted, became lazy, and forgot the Lord, they were inflicted with tribulations. We need to be diligent in our faith, and remember the reason why we do the small and simple things every day. Why do we read the scriptures everyday? Why do we pray everyday? Why do we go to church every Sunday? Are the results happening as we want them to?
