I can imagine the news report now... two mormon missionaries die by food.
Hey Everyone!
Here it has been very rainy and overcast. Yesterday I got soaked with rain! We got caught in a quick storm, and everywhere that we went to seek shelter there was no one home! Everything got soaked.... We looked like two crazies running around in the pouring rain without an umbrella!!!
Holy cow... Last Sunday I almost died of over eating.... We went to church like normal and then we got a ride with the member to his house to have lunch. We were just sitting around waiting for the sister to make the food, and then she called us over to eat. When we looked at the table she we were astonished. She decided to take the pleasure of serving our food... She pre-put heaping mounds of rice, beans, and spaghetti on our plates. Think of a plate big enough for two, absolutely full of food!!!! And this was the basics, she had put a lot of side dishes on the table as well. And she took note what things you ate and didn´t. And if you didn´t a food in particular she would serve it for you. And would give you a lot of it!!! We finished eating, at least we thought we did, when she served up seconds without asking.... Round two, we powered through it, and immediately when we were done she served up dessert. And it was a gross jello that hadn´t set all the way, so it was mostly liquidy. I had to close my eyes and just eat it (or you could say drink it) trying to hold it down so it wouldn´t come back up again. I can imagine the news report now... two mormon missionaries die by food.
The four day training was really good. I got to meet up with a lot of people that we baptized there. I met up with one young man Fabriciu. He is now the teachers quorum president and preparing to serve a mission! That is the best feeling on the mission, seeing your fruits being harvested, and seeing that they are good fruits!!!
I actually am feeling that I will be leaving this area this transfer. President has been taking out all the old leaders, and I think I am next on the list. This is sad because it means I will be transferred 4 days before Christmas!!! Actually it is kind of funny, because it is missionary life. That is the way things go for us down here!
Happy Thanksgiving!! Eat extra turkey and mashed potatoes for me!
So... what I have been thinking as far as plans when I get home. I will getting home in April, and I was thinking that I would be able to take some basic classes at the local college until September when I go out to Utah to study at BYU. So during the summer I only wanted to take a few basic classes, but focus most of my time on working and saving up some money.
Missionary life is excellent!! It is a most excellent adventure! It is the best thing ever! Thanks so much for the prayers and help and everything that you guys do. I love you guys so much!!!!!
Love,
Elder Kenning
