Whenver I have said this week was the most tireing week of my mission. Forget it, because this last one was the most out of all of them.
Hey Everybody!!!!
How is everyone doing way out there on the other side of the Lord´s vineyard? Things have been incredibly busy down here.... Woo.... lots of work we have been doing for our area and our zone. These past six weeks our zone has been the highest baptizing and the mission, and we have to work to widen the gap, and maintain our progress!!!!
Things have been really rainy, and sunny at the same time. It makes things really humid and muggy. Because of our tiny little house we have been having problems with mold.... But you get used to it. Mold I think, helpes to revitalize the skin as an exfoliant. Because of all the mold my skin will be nice and smooth just like Kimball´s bare bottom.
Missionary work is awesome! To bad that our family can´t be serving a mission all together! We would totally rock it out. Just imagine everyone all dressed up, with name tags and backpacks. I think when Kimball gets home from his mission we will have to take a picture of all the boys with their name tags... I have been telling a lot of stories to my comp about our family. I don´t know why, but he especially likes the ones about Kimball. He likes the one about Kimball´s white juice, and his backside hand refusing food at the dinner table.
My comp and I have been getting together really well. We seem to work on the same level, and that helps out a lot. With the unity that we have developed it is a lot easier to use each other´s talents to progress the work here. And boy this last week sure has been a crazy stressful week.
Whenver I have said this week was the most tireing week of my mission. Forget it, because this last one was the most out of all of them. We had two baptisms last Saturday night, and whenver there is a baptism, Satan (no not the land owner) tries to do everything in his power to stop them. We were already prepared for it, but we weren´t prepared for how much problems that would come to prevent these two being baptized.
We baptized Scarletty, who in front of her house was recently formed a new baptist church. Scarletty has been going to church for the past year, but her mom never letted her be baptized until now. But when we were getting her all prepared, the pastors of that church started talking to her and her mom. They were trying to convince her that she wasn´t ready to be baptized in our church, and that she should wait and be baptized in theirs. So that wasn´t cool for us. So Friday night we ended up going to their church, not to show them anything, or burn them, but simply because they invited us to. Its funny to think of two missionaries in another church, but we went there. Nothing crazy happened, but because we were there Scarletty´s mom decided to participate as well. And she felt really bad inside the church, and new that instant that it wasn´t true. So that was cool... The next morning we were leaving to go do some interviews for our zone, when the pastor called us over. He wanted to talk to us with 4 more pastors, one of which being the ´´boss´´ pastor. They tried getting us to not let her be baptized, they even grabbed her mom to try to talk to her. But us two with the help of the Lord stood firm, they couldn´t confuse us, and everything that we said pierced them to the soul until they started looking afraid. You can see fear in people´s eyes, and they were afraid of us....And the happy ending, Scarletty was baptized.
Dad, I don´t know if you are still in contact with the Souyers. Remember he served a mission here in Brazil? There is a brother here that Bishop Souyer was his ZL. He was Elder Ferreira. They served in Brasilia. Elder Ferreira is kind of fat guy. But he wanting Bishop Souyer´s information to contact him. Could you send them next week?
Tomorrow we have interviews with President Richardson. Should be good! I am pumped to be here! The Lord is on our side, then who should we fear? I like hymn 260 Who´s on the Lord´s Side?
3. The stone cut without hands
To fill the earth must grow.
Who’ll help to roll it on?
Who’s on the Lord’s side? Who?
Our ensign to the world
Is floating proudly now.
No coward bears our flag;
Who’s on the Lord’s side? Who?
4. The pow’rs of earth and hell
In rage direct the blow
That’s aimed to crush the work;
Who’s on the Lord’s side? Who?
Truth, life, and liberty,
Freedom from death and woe,
Are stakes we’re fighting for;
Who’s on the Lord’s side? Who?
The pictures that you got today, were from the activity that we did. We went on a tour of a soccer stadium. It was really cool.
I love you guys so much!!!!! Be Good!!!
Love,
Elder Harry Kenning
