I am pumped to be here and it needs to go slower ...
Hey everybody!!
How is everyone doing on this fine October day? Can you believe that it is already October! Holy cow the time is flying really fast. It is sad when you start missing the earlier times on the mission, the past areas, and companions.... But the mission is so awesome, and I am pumped to be here and it needs to go slower so that I can baptize more people!
This past week has been crazy with General Conference. I don´t know why but it seems like I get more out of it. I wrote almost 25 pages of notes just on conference. I would never do that at home. Every talk was a great talk that either helped me out, an investigator, or someone in the ward. What is even greater is that I am apart of my old stake that I passed through. Last Sunday was really touching when I talked to a few people that I had baptized here, and to see that they were strong in the church preparing to go to the temple. It is pretty incredible to see how someone´s life can be changed through the Gospel of Christ. I thought everyone would have forgotten me, but people were so excited to see me. Not many missionaries have this privilege of seeing there area or the people they baptized during the mission. But I am so grateful that I was able to. I am going to try to go to the temple with them as well, for their first time too. I sure hope President will let me.
Yesterday we had our leadership council. It was really good, and we are trying to get the mission to higher level of performance. Over the past few months everything has been gradually increasing. Last month our mission had its highest amount of baptism this year. In the month of September we baptized 140 people. And we even have higher expectations for next month.
Alright here is the deal with going on the mission when you are 18. The church is really needing missionaries. The amount of missionaries in the field right now is 38,000. That is it. And so the Prophet sent a letter to all the bishops here in Brazil, I thought Dad got one as well. That says as soon as you turn 18 you can enter into the mtc to serve a mission. There are a lot of young men in my ward who just turned 18 and are really excited to be able to go on a mission earlier. So Jake find out about this, and go on a mission as soon as possible. We are really needing you out here! The mission is awesome!
I am trying to send pictures of our zone, and our baptism this last Sunday. I sure hope it all works out.
Mom, if you haven´t already sent out the package can you include a bottle of maple syrup? Please, and thank you.
Well I need to get going have a great day y´all!!! I love you guys so much!!!!
Love,
Elder Harrison James Kenning
