Happy Ground hog's day!
Hey Everyone!
Happy Groudnhog´s day! I have had that music from that movie stuck in my head
all day today. I can imagine that all of you are watching the movie right now. I
don´t know why it´s so funny to watch Bill Murray electracute himself, or drive
himself off a cliff. But I guess it´s one of those family traditions. Our family
is weird isn´t it..... Watching groundhog´s day, hitting each other with
spoons... and Jake´s street moves. I tried explaining to my companion about
´´street moves´´. I even did one for him on the road, he just looked at me
funny, changed the subject, and kept on walking. Thanks jake for making me look
like a guy with no life.
Anyways, this week has been really good. I am still taking care of the
materials, actually I have taken over all of the materials, the baptismal forms,
and all of the references. It has been a little stressful, because my last
companion left everything all unorganized and a mess. So I have been doing a lot
of damage control. My new comp is being trained as the next ´´fleet manager´´.
Luckily no one in our mission has a car, and we all use public transportation.
Here in the office, I take the subway from my house to the office. It´s really
weird, it feels like I am actually working for a living, but I am not getting
any money.
I think that is really awesome about the two baptisms that the ward is going to
have. It´s a shame that it isn´t the family, but it will still be awesome. I bet
Jake is pumped to baptize. Just make sure to fill up the font. We don´t want
another ´´kimball´´ baptism. I remeber when I got to baptize him, and how he
kicked his foot out of the water so that he could be baptized again.
So in our area we have found a rogue church that is going to have a whole
anti-mormon night. They have a radio station, tv station, and flyers. It will be
Feb. 19. They are going to talk about ´´God´s Romance``, ``Mormonism and
Racism´´, ´´Polygamy´´, and ´´what the mormons don´t tell´´. All of the other
churches down here don´t like our church. They all have their anti-mormon books,
and their crazy Pastors waiting to Bible bash with the missionaries. I told my
Mission President about this anti-mormon night, and he told me that we could go
there. He said feel free to do what you would like. So we are going to go there,
not to bible bash, or yell and make a scene, but to defend our church. It should
be pretty awesome. The office elders, the assistants, and I are all going to go
there.
Yesterday we had our usual office meeting with President. It was my turn to give
the spiritual thought. Thanks to dad, and his brilliance, I totally shredded the
board room. I gave a spiritual thought on King Benjamin, and how we should be
serving leaders, not just leaders who sit on their thrones. It was pretty
spectacular. Thanks dad!
Thank you Corbett family for the package! I will be sending you guys a letter
real soon!
Well I need to get going. I am sorry that I haven´t left a spiritual thought in
a while. I am on the computer so much now, that if I don´t need to be on, I will
get off. But today I will leave a thought don´t you worry mom. Well I love you
all so much!!!!! I miss you all too!!! I can´t believe that it already has been
9 months since I left. Just a little bit more left!!!! LOVE YOU!!!!!
Love,
Elder Harry Kenning
Spiritual Thought:
So today as apart of my study program I was reading in Mosiah 27. This chapter
is about the conversion of Alma the Younger, and is one of my favorites in the
BofM. Actually I have read this chapter various times, but today somthing struck
me, when the angel of the Lord appeared to Alma and the Sons of Mosiah.
´´And again, the angel said: Behold, the Lord hath aheard the prayers of his
people, and also the bprayers of his servant, Alma, who is thy father; for he
has cprayed with much faith concerning thee that thou mightest be brought to the
dknowledge of the truth; therefore, for this purpose have I come to econvince
thee of the power and authority of God, that the fprayers of his servants might
be answered according to their faith.´´
The reason why the angel visited Alma, was not because of his wickedness. But he
was visited because of the prayers of his parents, and his friends. We all know
someone who is like Alma the Younger, taking the wrong path. If we all pray for
that person, the Lord will send help, and can change the life of that person.
There really is power in prayer.
