A few thoughts along with the May 26th letter

I have been so pleased that Elder Kenning has been writing so regularly. I always hear stories about missionaries not writing home as often as they need to. I am aware that might change as he gets busier, but for now I am happy. Each week he has not only managed to hand write a letter to Dan and I, but also a separate individual email sent to each of his brothers Jake, Grant, and Kimball. It is so cute. He even draws Kimball pictures as he receives pictures in the mail from Kimball.

He loves getting mail and I am so appreciative of all of you who have taken the time to write him. I know it means a lot to him. A month from now I will change his address on the blog to the mission home address. Apparantly that's where the mail needs to go when he is out in the field. I think we can mail packages then too.

Above everything else, Thank you for your prayers. I miss Harry so much. This is the hardest thing I have had to do as a mom, yet I am so so happy. I have my teary moments when I am encompassed with that 'mom' worry but can feel the Spirit as I read his words knowing all is ok. Just knowing that Heavenly Father is watching over him and knowing that prayers are being offered in his behalf brings much comfort and peace.

Love you all, Molly

Dear Family,

This week has been really crazy. It has just flown right by. It feels like yesterday was the day I wrote you last but I guess not. I hope you got my pictures by now. I did that so that you would have some pictures sooner. I hope you are enjoying them. I also hope that you got the pictures that were emailed to you of me at the Temple. I went there today and it was great as usual.

So what have you been writing on the blog? I have been getting letters from people quotting the blog. I got a postcard from Brother Nordstrom. That was cool. It was all the way from Bulgaria. We had another set of Brazilians move into our room last week. (since they are only there for 3 weeks). One of them is this really big guy. And he has the most obnoxious snore. In the middle of the night I woke up, and I was really scared. When he snores he makes all sorts of noises and growls. At first I thought we had a monster in our room turning into a werewolf. He seriously sounds like that guy from Bedtime stories.

We have had some interesting food this past week. For pizza night the chef made an omelet pizza which actually tasted pretty good. A couple of nights ago they made a 'leftover' cake. Anything you can think of from leftovers was thrown into this cake. There was eggs, tomatos, beef, chicken, rice, beans, noodles, all baked into one solid delight. I unfortunately was not brave enough to try it.

So to answer some of your questions from the May 13th letter. I haven't received one since then but I am sure it will come tonight. But anyway, my flight to Brazil was extremely long. I place one pass along and stared at my flight path on the monitor the whole way. In Dallas I met up with 30 or so Elders and Sisters. It was way cool. We took up a good portion of the airplane. I have made a few good friends here, but I haven't met anyone yet from my friends in Utah. I hope I will because that would be really cool.

Last Sunday I got to bless the sacrament in Portugeuse. I am proud to say that I didn't mess it up, but I am pretty sure it had a German accent. It's wierd but I am learning to work with it. I am glad I have some language background, although now I wish it was Spanish. Last Wednesday we went to the Police Station to get our ID's all worked out. There I met up with some missionaries from my mission. It was really cool to talk to them. I can't wait until I get out of here to begin the real fun. Only 1 more month to go and then let the salvation begin. The leaders expect everyone here to baptize at least 50 people. Isn't that exciting?

So how is the family doing? How is the ward doing? I hope everything is doing great. Everything is still the same here, just the daily grind.

One of my friends in my District also received new Brazillians this week. And on the same day he got a letter from his ex-girlfriend. But when he was trying to explain to the to the Brazilian about the letter instead of saying girlfriend (amarada), he said boyfriend (amarado). It was pretty hilarious to see an Elder talk about his boyfriend.

Well anyway, I have to go. I hope everything is going well. I miss you all very much and I love you too. You are always in my prayers.

Love, Elder Harrison Kenning

p.s.
I got your letter Dad. Thank you very much. I am sorry to hear about Grandma and Grandpa.
By the way, Mr. Cheney's cookies is just a cookie shop like Mrs. Fields. It is not a store in any way. If you do 'order packages' they run out to the community and buy things for you. It's kind of interesting. Let the Bailey's know I got their letters, and I will write them next week!

Oh my gosh!!!!!! I just love Harry so much!!!! He is so thoughtful and I am so bubbling over with excitement for his mission. He is going to touch so many peoples lives!!! We are so proud to know Elder Kenning, and yes, he is my favorite missionary ever!!!!! Oh and just a side note, every night when we say bedtime prayers, Suzie remembers Elder Kenning in her prayers....That makes me smile...
