what are ya'll in to!? (as they say over here) The accents here and vocabulary are hilarious.. it's right up there with maine accents haha. Half the time I can't understand what people are saying! Then when I can understand what people are saying its some local lingo I guess you could say, I'm trying super hard not to pick any of it up though haha All the other missionaries love it and talk like it all the time. It's quite interesting I must say.

It's been a pretty good week though! Trying to stay as busy as possible, without burning myself out during the week. I feel like sometimes I just push the work as much as I can, and it gets tiresome at times, but I still continue to keep going somehow! I know it's not through my own power but through the power of God. We've had quite a few lessons this week, some really cool lessons too. As i've said in the past I think that most people here are Catholic, Baptist, or Methodist and its very rare to come across someone who isnt a part of a church already. There literally are churches on every corner down here! It's pretty crazy, but really helps illustrate the Restoration of the Gospel in the back light of the Apostasy. Through that apostasy many churches formed, creeds were created and the doctrine of Christ was distorted by mans own desires! I really try and bring that one to light. Another thing that I've been hitting home in lessons and door approaches is the need of Prophets and Apostles. Christ church was built upon Apostles and Prophets as it says in Ephesians, then in Hebrews it talks about how God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If that was the case then how could Christ's church not be built upon Apostles and Prophets? "There are no spices, where are the nutrients!" -Nacho Libre (I think thats how it goes) They need those essential keys for the Salvation of man! We need those nutrients haha.
We taught this one guy who believed that everyone has the Authority of God, believes in the Trinity and that all we need is the bible and we are set, we also run into people down here about 95% of the people think this way. "we have the Bible, we are all trying to get to the same place so as long as we have God in our heart and except him we are saved" Oh, another big thing that everyone says is "that they're saved" being saved means accepting God and his gospel and you are literally saved. Those two concepts are hard to teach through because you kind of have to bust down some walls in the process and really "break" the heart so that you can fill it with the Holy Ghost. It's such a learning curve out here, it really is. It's a lot of fun though too, we meet some hilarious people, some not so nice people haha and really just a mix of everyone.

Being in this part of the country is pretty cool because everyone is religious, so most people recognize you as doing the Lords work and trying to help people help! They respect that a lot but at the same time dont want anything to do with what we have to offer.. It's all good. Jacob 1:19, just got to keep going and let everyone have a chance to hear the Gospel.

Last two days we've had Stake Conference! I went to the Saturday night one, and the sunday morning session. It was awesome, we met down in Huntington WV. Elder Homer from the 70 came and spoke to us, it was amazing. Saturday night was solely focused around hastening the work and members and missionaries working together. Elder Homer had quoted from an apostle I forgot who though saying that through this dispensation we are living in one of the greatest times of the history of the church, it marks up there with the First Vision, and coming forth of the Book of Mormon. The Age change is truly a sign of the Hastening of the work, the work is being done more than ever before. Preparing the way for the Gathering of Israel, and for the Second coming. Preparing for the Second Coming has been a huge topic that everyone speaks of since I've been on my mission. It's truly a time to prepare, we must do all that we can now, to be ready.
It's truly an honor to be a misisonary at this time, to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, to help bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man, to help people realize the way of Salvation. This work is amazing, I find myself most joyful when I have my head buried in the Work of the Lord. So shall we all! I hope you all have a great week this week! Glad to have heard from you guys, I love you all!

Love, Elder Kenning
