Happy Tuesday meu Amigos e Minha Familia! Today is P-day this week instead of Yesterday, because this week is transfers! I will not be transferred this week nor will my comp! We both get to stay here in Portsmouth, i'm super excited because I love it here. I think i'll finish out my journey in the U.S. here in Portsmouth and then have the "big" transfer to Brazil! Hopefully haha. It's been a great week though. Being a missionary is definitely a taxing thing but so worth every minute of it.
On tuesday we had Specialized training down in Ashland Kentucky with all of Huntington and Ashland Stake. It was amazing, President came up and really gave a awesome lesson. The whole meeting was based solely upon the Book of Mormon. It's truly incredible what the Book of Mormon brings to the table as missionaries, it really brings everything that we teach about. More in depth with the lesson we talked about the Fall of Adam, and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Those two topics work with each other so well. The Book of Mormon brings about the small and Simple things that have been lost in the Bible. For example, the word Atonement is only found in the Bible once found in the Book of Romans, as does the Book of Mormon has 39 examples of the word Atonement being used. the Atonement of Jesus Christ is everything! I had the opportunity to speak to the ward on the topic of the Atonement this past sunday, I really enjoyed it. Without the Atonement we wouldn't be able to progress or anything, the Book of Mormon really brings that to light which is absolutely needed for people to fully understand the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is awesome. Later that day my area and Olive hill kentucky had exchanges, so Elder Barney went over to Olive Hill while Elder De Graff of olive Hill came here to Portsmouth. It was awesome, little nerve racking because I had to run the area for a couple of days but I loved it, gave me such a opportunity to grow and become a better missionary as well as establish those needed relationships with the people in which we taught.
We've really had the opportunity to teach a lot of lessons this week, whenever a lesson would fall through or we had time to spare we would do tracting which in the past has been a usual occurance and common activity. Oppose to this week it was fairly rare which was kind of nice for a change. I love sitting down with families and our investigators to teach them a solid lesson on the Restoration. I can't stop smiling while I teach people it's pretty awesome. When we were tracting though we came across a kid about 13 years old, we invited him to learn and asked if we could come back to talk about it a little more?! Surprisingly he said yes, long story short we are teaching him his dad, and hopefully his mom haha they are awesome totally on top of our commitments that we give them and super awesome.
Another amazing experience that I had this week was when we were going to go teach this guy named Danny, we were going to go teach him but he didn't answer so we decided to keep walking up the street and knock some houses. This was about 8 at night so it was a little sketchy being in the part of town we were in, but we felt like we just had to keep going. As we were walking I hear in the background "look! it's the missionaries!" So i turn around and this little girl was on the porch with her sisters and dad, we cross the street and we talk for a little bit and he lets us in! Which has never happened before so i was super stoked haha anyway, we got in there and taught him the Restoration. All i have to say is that the Lord has prepared him for this time in his life to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he is Golden! Now we have frequent appointments to go see that family every monday night and have dinner which is a plus haha. They have a huge family, and cannot wait to see how they progress with our lessons. That family is a miracle to us.
Nothing else is really happening here in Portsmouth, same old same old! Thanks so much to the Borget family for sending me a package and the Bryant family for sending me that letter, it was very much appreciated and am so blessed to have friends like them in my life! glad that everyone is doing well, makes me happy. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you guys, Love you so much!
