Elvis and Jehovah Witnesses
Hey guys, glad to hear you had a good week. That's cool your parents were best friends with elder olsens parents too. Stake Conference sounded like it went well.
Our Stake Conference went really well too. The stake center is literally next to the Newport Beach Temple. And inside they have a huge organ, with the pipes and all. And one of the organist that plays for the stake really played good. Our interlude hymn was Come come ye saints and she went full out on the keys and it was really loud, and last verse we key changed it up. It was nuts. Our Stake president down here is really good, he said a lot of great things.
I made some Home-made spaghetti. I made the noodles from scratch. A sister in the mission has a recipe for egg noodles. So I made it. It was delicious and nutritious.
Funny thing is that my comp and I realized we haven't eaten spaghetti a lot on our mission, I, probably around 3 times. And were telling others that we hardly eat it. Well this week we have had it 3 days in a row. yup.
We had a good past week. We had Zone Conference, it was different this time. 9 in the morning we as 3 different zones, our zone, the Fullerton zone and spanish zone all went up to Yorba Linda and re-painted a huge strip of fencing along the road. Afterwards we went down to Newport stake center and changed and had a huge lunch, we then met to listen from our president, I played the opening hymn. They called me on the spot and I didn't know how to play the closing hymn, so didn't play it. But another elder played it.
We picked up a new investigator who is 85 years old, we found her tracting. She has an organ in her home with a bunch of Elvis pictures around. So she wanted me to play, so I played some Elvis that i knew.
Lately as we've been tracting, when we knock on someones door, they tend to ask us if we are jehovahs witness's we say no and they are much nicer after. Apparently they bother the people here. Speaking of the jw's we tracted into one and he let us in and taught us, for an hour, and only let us say a few words, so we let him talk out what he needed to say. What he had to say was really not that important. It's cool in some aspects, but they put their faith in their scriptures almost.
Scripture: 1Nephi 13:37 " And blessed are they who shall seek to bring forth my Zion at that day, for they shall have the gift and the power of the Holy Ghost; and if they endure unto the end they shall be lifted up at the last day, and shall be saved in the everlasting kingdom of the Lamb; and whoso shall publish peace, yea, tidings of great joy, how beautiful upon the mountains shall they be."
