Transferred 4 days before Christmas...Called as a trainer.

Hey Everybody!!!!

Well... To start things off I got transferred!! Can you believe it! But I am really excited, because I got released as a zone leader, and got called as a trainer! I am training Elder Cherry, he is American, and is from Sacramento California. He seems like a really cool guy. So I got transferred, I picked him up, and now we are opening up the area. It really stinks because it is 4 days before Christmas, and I do not know where anyone lives. So I have no idea how the call is going to work out. I probably will end up calling in the afternoon, probably between 2 and 5 o´clock.

I am way excited to be here, this area has always had missionaries who weren´t the greatest.... so there is a lot of potential to turn it completely around, and make into a really good area. I am way pumped. Actually I am back in my old stake, the stake that I was in before the last one. So I already know the place, I just need to know the people now. I am in a little city called riberão pires. So we will see how it goes, I know that the Lord will bless us here. I think this will be my last area on the mission, but then you never know what could happen, or what the Lord has in store for us.

I know for the call, that there is a phone card that you can buy that is really cheap. But to call internationally. I don´t remember what it is called, but it could save a lot of money for us. International cell phone calls could cost a lot.

We had a baptism last Sunday, I have attached the pic.

Well until Christmas! Until the last phone call... Dang I am getting old on the mission.... I can´t wait to hear you guys. Be good!

Love,
Elder Harry Kenning

Spiritual Thought:

For the spiritual thought today, I would like to share some entries from my Study Journal about patience.

What is Patience?
- Patience is the ability to put on hold our desires for a time, so that the Lord´s desires can be fulfilled.
- It is a purifying process that refines understanding, deepens happiness, focuses action, and offers hope for peace. This is the key process of becoming perfect and returning to live with God.

But why patience?
- We will always have problems in life, but how we decide to handle those problems, will determine our outcome. The harder, more rewarding route is enduring to the end which requires a lot of patience.

-Brigham Young asked the Lord for patience so that he could fully understand and fix the problem.

But how to we get more of it?
-ASK FOR IT!
-be humble
-enthusiasm

Patience is an amplifier of necessary Christlike attributes, for example:
patiently humble = meekness
patient persistence = endurance
patient faith = hope
patient obedience = diligence

Patience is key in:
D&C 121:39-45
D&C 98:12
Galations 5:22-23
Mosiah 3:19

I know that being patient is our choice. No one can force us to be patient, or not. But we have to decide, and if we decide to be patient I know that we will more effectively be able to endure our trials and hardships. For when we are truly patient we completely trust that the Lord will take care of us, no matter how long that it will take.
