Brasil, the world cup, and pig tail

Hey everybody!!!

How is everyone doing? I can´t believe that you all went out to Utah, and back, and went to Jake´s graduation. You guys are nuts. Congratulations Jake, you are now officialy old. I can´t believe that you are out of High School already! Do you have any plans to go to college before the mission, and if so, where are you planning on going?

I have been incredibly busy this past week. I hardly have any time today to write. Yesterday Brasil played soccer in the world cup. Everything shut down and locked up while everyone partied. Things got dangerous for us missionaries, so President told everyone to stay at home during the game. Whenever Brazil scored a goal, everyone lit off fireworks, and starting screaming and yelling. It was intense, I felt like I was in a war zone yesterday afternoon.

ALthough things were crazy in the afternoon, in the morning I went to the temple. It is so awesome having the chance to go the House of the Lord, and get spiritually ´´recharged´´ for the week. Too bad I can´t go to the temple every week. I learned something a lot of things new. It´s even cooler because I go to the session in Portuguese. Something I learned was that I have always thought why, and how are the things I learn in the temple going to protect me? But I learned yesterday to change my way of thinking and ask instead: How can I make the knowledge of the temple protect me?

So last week, I had the chance to help out a missionary who has been struggling a lot. We studied Preach My Gospel, and we studied why we are out here serving a mission. It was very spiritual, and I hope I was able to help out a little bit. He has always been one of my good friends, and we were able to sit down and talk things over.

I ate pig tail on Saturday. It´s gross, it´s like half rotten hot dogs.

This Sunday I will have a baptism!! Our goal is to be baptizing weekly. We have a really cool family lined up for the week after. A family of five, they are all reading the book of Mormon, and all have a testimony of the church. They just need to go to church a little bit more and they will be baptized. I can see the dad becoming a bishop here in the ward in a few years.

Sorry the email is kind of short, I need to get going! There are people to be baptized! I love you all so much, I miss you guys too! Dad, I will put your letter for the ward in the mail this week!

Love,
Elder Harry Kenning

p.s.- thanks for the package, those skittles were magically delicious. Send more! Also, it´s freezing here, it has gotten down to the low 40´s recently, could you send a cheap sweater for me to use? Thanks!
