Tommorw marks Elder Kenning's half way mark!

Hey Everybody!

How are things going in sunny side Maine? Is everyone enjoying the sweet succulent spring weather? Are the trees going green yet?

This week has been insanely busy. Our conference with Elder Nelson was amazing. We had it with him, and with his wife. Elder Nelson looks a lot older in person. He asked that everyone shake his hand. It was awesome. He reminded me a lot of grandpa kenning. He is a really down to earth man, who is very personal. His wife spoke, and she spoke a lot about marriage and listening to our mission president. My mission president has 12 kids, and she said to use him as an example in my life. Elder Nelson also opened it up to the missionaries to ask whatever question. I was prompted to ask a question. I asked how can I help my investigators feel the love of the savior? He responded.´´Use tough love elder!´´ He then explained how that the best way we can show our love to the Savior is through obeying his commandments. If my investigators want to feel the love of the Savior they have to simply obey His commandments. Elder Nelson said ´´We have total control of the amount of love we have for the Savior. The Lord loves him that honors Him.´´

Elder Nelson spoke in English the whole time, but he did have his translator with him who translated everything into Portuguese. ( I don´t think he needed it.) One of my good friends here on the mission, Elder Hope, had the chance to translate everything from Portuguese into English. Could you imagine translating for an apostle!?

3 Yet I will own them, and they shall be amine in that day when I shall come to make up my jewels.
4 Therefore, they must needs be achastened and tried, even as bAbraham, who was commanded to offer up his only son.
5 For all those who will not aendure chastening, but bdeny me, cannot be sanctified.

So in order to be called of Jesus Christ we have to tried and chastened. Doesn´t that stink. Who wants to endure chastening? Well I guess if we want to have eternal life we have to be chastised.

Anyways, This week has been good, busy, but good. I have a new companion, and he is going well. I have to teach him everything I know about the office. It will take a while. I think I will be leaving the office this transfer. Hopefully.I am going nuts here. I need to get out of here. I need to go baptize a ton of people still..

Today I had a hot dog with mashed potatoes, corn, pepperoni, cheese, chili, and olives. It was actually really good. It´s good and greasy and american.

I´m sorry I am writing fast. I have run out of time.

I also was thinking that if it would be too hard for the family to come pick me up here in Brasil, maybe dad could just come out. I don´t know if it would be feasible, but I would love to show you guys around town.

Thanks so much! I love you all!!!!

Love,

Elder Kenning

p.s. - for mother´s day I´ll make the call here in the office. Be good!
