Happy Thanksgiving!
Hey Everybody!
I hope you guys are having a good time in Florida, because I am having an even
better time here in Brazil, teaching, preaching, and working as missionaries do!
Thank you guys so much for your emails, I really love hearing from you guys,
even if you are using friend number 1. It is alright, when I get back I will
have to get a friend number 1.5 upgraded. Sorry for my email last week if it
sounded negative. I was just feeling frustrated, I guess I need to learn more
patience with the Lord, and trust in him more, remembering that I am on His
errand, not mine. So sorry once again, this week has been better, and I am back
and ready to go!
So what has happened this week... Mmm.... We had interviews on Wednesday, and
District Meeting with Sister Richardson. She stil can´t speak Portuguese very
well, and I am the only american in my district, so I translated it all for her.
That was really cool, listening in English, and talking in Portugeuse. The Lord
has really been helping me with Portugeuse, and I have been learning really fast
compared to a lot of other americans, I am so grateful for Him.
Today for P-day I am doing a division with another amercian. He only has 2
months in the field, and I have been helping him out with Portugeuse. His
companion also doesn´t like to go visit places so I took him around downtown,
showed him the beach, and we went to that chairlift again to the top of the
mountain, so we could see the whole city. It was really cool, the weather was
perfect, but I got really sun burned, just like dad, I am bright red like a
lobster.
I only have 1 ward that I am working with, it is the Humaitá ward, my area is
only that little neighborhood. But within this neighborhood there is a ton of
people. The only problem is that everyone has already heard about the
missionaries, so we have to work extra hard.Let´s see here for investigators
that I have, I think dad wants me to report on them every week, I can do that, I
can keep you guys in the loop. For a teaching pool I have:
Carlos (45), Lucia (40), Darlan (10) - This is a family that we have been
working really hard with. Lucia is having problems with cigarettes, and Carlos
is having problems with Alcohol. They have committed to stop but continue to
abuse these substances. Lucia and Darlan went to church this Sunday, but Carlos
slept in. But we have taught them everything, and they have a baptismal date of
1/31/10. It is so late because they need to get married before.
Edna (35, member), Ricardo (35) -WE have been working with Ricardo a lot, he
knows the bible very well, his problem is the Book of Mormon. He still thinks
that the Bible has all the answers.
That is all that we are working really close with, we have found some new
families this week, but we still don´t know if they are going to be good or not.
I am working on a package for you guys, but unfortunately it won´t get out in
time for Christmas, the mail service down here where I live, will do packages,
but all the members have said don´t trust this particular office with packages,
because they will steal them.
Speaking of packages, I got the package from sister jarry, it took so long
because the government opened it up and took some things out, and then
re-wrapped it. I got all the toiletries, and all the candy, but I don´t think I
got the cake mix, or the book, or the letter. It is funny how Brazil works.
a quick question, are you guys printing off my emails, and holding on to them
for me? If you could that would be awesome.
Well have a great time in Florida.
Love you all, Happy Thanksgiving, I
can´t wait to hear from you next week!
Love,

78:19. Let us use this holiday of thanksgiving, not only to eat, to enjoy time
with our families, but give thanks. But how can we give thanks. It is one thing
to say thank you, and another to actually show it. We can show our thanks and
our love through small actions. I know that during this time of year we can
really grow closer to each other by demonstrating our thanks.
