Paulista Avenue Sao Paulo

Harry sounds so happy. I love hearing from him. I've included a picture that I found on the internet that talks about the place that he went proselyting last week. Wow! Pretty big city.

Dear Family,
So I was right about the packages last week. That night I got the sewing stuff and the pants (nice packing mom). And the next day the Cd with your lovely pillowcase. All of you are so weird. I am not sure if I want to laugh or throw up every single night I go to bed! So gross... Is that pillowcase machine washable? ***fyi, for those reading this, our family found a missionary pillowcase from deseret book with notes/advice pre-written on it..i.e. say your prayers..etc...we added our own messages of love. it was fun!****I don't want all the writing to bleed together. But thank you so much for the letters, the cd, and yes the pillowcase. The day after I received the speakers, they are really nice, another Elder has his Ipod so now we have been able to listen to some music. A lot of Elders have Ipods and Ipod touches, weird right? They are bound to get stolen sooner or later. I am glad I don't have to worry about Friend #2. But I am worried about Friend #1 . Is he okay still, Grant hasn't spilled anything on him yet. If he has don't tell me, I don't think I would be able to bear the news.

So what is new with everyone? Anything exciting happen lately? Nothing really exciting has happened here except the packages, and I went proselyting on Friday. I went to a place called Paulista Avenue. It was so busy, busier than Times Square. It was really hard to proselyte because the people there weren't as humble as before. You should Google the place, but I would be careful because that is where they hold the worlds largest Gay parade. Well I have checked that off the list of things to do before I die.

After proselyting we had this meeting about companionship language study. I guess out in the field while I am learning Portugeuse, I am supposed to teach them English. The church strongly recommends all Brasilian missionaries to learn English. Interesting, isn't it?

So what are some world events that are going on? Is swine flu becoming really bad? I guess it is becoming pretty bad here in Brazil. I got letters from Aunt Pam, and Jerry Elie. That was a pleasant surprise. I heard from 'G' little pieces of how Costa Vida is doing.

Today has been awesome so far, I went to the Temple and it was awesome as usual. I got to meet some other missionaries from my mission. I am so pumped to get out into the field. Only 1 more week left of the MTC. Can you make sure that on missionties.com you change my address on there to my mission home, also have the Baileys do the same.

My spiritual thought for this week is:

"Through God we can do anything. But first we need to understand the role of God in our everyday lives.' Mosiah 4:6

Happy Father's Day! Happy Birthday! I need to go. I have run out of time. I miss you all and love you very much!

Love,
Elder Harry Kenning

p.s. I just go the cd player just a second ago. Looks awesome. Thank you so much! I also just got your letter from yesterday. I can't believe the Explorer! And I am so excited for the Bryants. I bet Bro. Bryant is really excited. Sorry, I will write about it more next week! Until then!
