Happy father's day dad!
Happy fathers day dad! (was yesterday) hope you had a good fathers day there, im pretty sure nothing happened because fathers day already happened hahaI dont think fathers day is really big here, nothing really happened at church, the only thing that happened was that it was really hard to get into doors last night and teach people, because everyone had lefted for fathers day. Its all good though. Sounds like you guys had quite the eventful week! That picture of you guys in the backyard is pretty unreal. Looks like youve done a lot to the backyard. Cant wait to see it when I get home. Hows work going with you guys? Anything special happened? Dont worry about not having anything to say, just say anything! Anything is fine with me haha I just like reading letters from you guys, thats all that matters.
This week has been crazy though. We´ve seen some success here in Grajaú, this week i picked up 13 new investigators to teach, which is really good. Been cycling through our teaching pool like crazy. My weekly progress sheet i fill out aevery week changes, because oh how much people we cycle through to find the lords elect. So we found 13 new this week, we only put three more on date and our other 4 baptism dates fell through.. Those four people are in Linhares really far away, so ill completely close that area on wednesday. We are building the foundation of this area really strong right now, we have so many potencials in my new neighborhood Santos anjos. Ive definitely been kicking my butt this transfer and making sure im putting it all on the table for the Lord. I had a cool experience where ive been asking a lot of the Lord to help me become more humble and patient and continually develope those christlike attributes. One day it just hit me that, im only 8 months into my mission, that will be only 1 yr and 4 months left to serve the lord in this calling. Will never again get this opportunity. Its crazy! I hear a lot of missionaries here in the mission who talk as if this mission is theres its all about them, but in reality this mission has nothing to do with me! Im just simply a tool in the Lords hands, Im learning to forget about myself, and go to work. Work is the best way to show my love for him, you guys, and for this opportunity I have.
Sometimes its been hard, but who cares haha! Nothing good is ever easy, Sometimes I find it hard for myself to be here, but when it comes down to it. This is my calling, and Ill never give this calling up for a million dollars. I love being a missionary. Dad Im definitely going to be checking out that talk again, I read it back in the states. Ill definitely look at it again.
So this week some weird things happened. I was able to eat some interesting things too. I ate cow (or pig im not sure) a part of the throat and ears! Tastes like chicken! No really, it tastes pretty good, for me when it comes to food I could care less where it came from as long as it tastes good. It tasted good, I can honestly say I went back for seconds.. Its cool here. Everyone eats every part of the animal, like ill go into a market and Ill look and there is pig feet, ears, heart, eyes all the goods to buy and eat! I want to try pig feet, I heard its pretty good. It all looks like it came straight of the pig 5 minutes earlier.. probs did haha Then I had this raw egg soup again. I looked into the pot and its was straight white solid stuff. I was like "oh cool, its probably cheese with other things on the bottom" i poke my spoon into it and raw yoke, and egg whites start coming out haha. I ate my portion and the member comes to me and says "want more?" I said oh sister im full, im good. She says back well cant be too sure. and she loads my plate again with it.. its all god, I ate it! Wasnt too bad actually.
I havent really updated you on the language lately. Its gone really good. My companion told me today he heard me sleep talking today about cars.. in Portuguese! It was a pretty interesting night haha. Im starting to think in Portuguese now, its pretty awesome, I can understand just about everyone now, and can actually respond back ot them and hold good conversations with people. One investigator said to me "you are american right? but you only speak Portuguese?" I said nooo im american I speak english, and a little bit of Portuguese. He said back, oh, you sound like you only know Portuguese! That made me really happy when I heard that.. The language is good well, im forgeting words in english, the other american and I try to only speak english after 9:00. We always get mad at each other for always speaking portuguese and not english when we actually can! Its just what we are used to.
Thats really about it that happened this week, nothing special. Ill try to be more exciting this week for you guys! Today i plan on going to the church and passing the football with Elder LIbby and chillin all day. Im soo pumped. Tomorrow I have zone conference with three other zones, IM super pumped. You have no idea. I cant wait. LEt me know if there is anything I can do for you guys! You guys are awesome! Love you guys!
Love, ELder Kenning
Spiritual thought: D&C 2:3- this is talking about temples. Without Temples, we would have no way to salvation after this life. The second coming of the lord would utterly destroy the earth and the people without the saving ordances of the temple. The TEMPLE is SO important, you have no idea how much i want to go to the temple. I miss it so much, make it a priority to go to the temple frequently, you guys have the opportunity there, take it! Never waste it! The first week when I get home I want to go to the temple. Just letting you guys know :)
