Back to São Vicente!!!!

Hey everyone!!!!

I got transferred!!!! And you won´t believe where I got transferred! Remember my second area? Close to the beach? I have returned to the same city, the same stake but a different ward. I am still a Zone Leader here with a new companion. His name is Elder R. Oliveira. He is really cool, handsome, intelligent, and has a cat named sheep.

Next week I will send my new address so that you can find me on Google.

So how are things going over there?

Anyways adventures.... Today was a crazy day with my suitcases. I had to go all the way to the center of São Paulo then all way back down here to the coastal area. And on the way down we got stuck in traffic. I know for sure that when I get home I will be very grateful for personal transportation. And I won´t have to worry about city buses... Yesterday was really sad because I had to go around and tell everyone good bye. It was really sad, and I took a lot of pictures. I think those kind of days are the worst days of being a missionary. But I know that this area that I am in right now has a great potential, and we are going to do some good work here.

So Jake are you going to serve a mission now? The church headquarters moved the lowest age from 19 to 18. All of the young men in my ward are wicked excited. So are you going to be going pretty soon? Don´t sit around waiting for me. The sooner you go on the mission the better it is!

We had zone conferences last week. And we started a new study program. We have been focusing a lot on the Christ´s Doctrine, or Christ´s Gospel. We each received a fresh Book of Mormon, and we are reading it in 90 days. we will be stopping on Christmas Eve. And with this reading we are marking the following:

Green - faith
Red- repentance
blue - BAPTISM
yellow - the Spirit
orange - endure to the end

So it is going pretty well. Last Saturday we had a roast seasoned with orange and passion fruit juice. It was really good.... Even with lime juice it is good. It makes the meat really good and tender. Full of succulent juices... I was thinking of a tip for the restaurant. Here in Brazil every meal has rice and beans. To make the beans the sisters they let the beans soak in water over night so that the beans get nice and soft. Maybe it could help with the restaurant. I know that beans are a pain in the neck to do...

Thanks everyone for the cards! Mom thanks for the package! It was awesome. I was craving American sweets, and they all ran out really fast. But it was good. And my comp loved the garmies. If you could in this package, please send pictures and more treats!!!! I am needing to update my album of pictures. Also please send socks!!! All my sock have holes in them.

A funny little story that happened to us last Saturday. We were really late for an appointment and we were basically running to our next appointment. And this crazy drunk guy calls us over. This guy smelt so bad, and was really drunk. He was also bleeding from his forehead. Probably he had fallen because he was drunk. He called us over and started crying, wanting our help. This guy was talking all really slurred and stuff. So we told him to go to church the next day. Usually when we do this nobody ever goes. But when we got there, he was there, still a little drunk. And when he shook our hands he kissed them and stuff. It was just awkward because we weren´t expecting him to show up. And it was even funnier to see the members react to him. A drunk man in sacrament meeting.

Well I need to get going!!!! I love you guys a ton!!!! Don´t go changing just to please me!!!!

Love,
Elder Harry Kenning

Spiritual Thought:

This past week I have been studying a topic that is quite a broad topic. I have been studying pride, and how our pride affects our work and members of the Church of Christ.
From the scriptures I was able to determine Humility as doing whatever God wants, and how He wants it. Pride is putting our opinion into our actions and trying to do things our way. I have realized that we can tell if we are prideful we get irritated easily, we are competitive, angry, and un-happy about the results. I noticed that I was getting a little bit prideful because we would tech a lesson perfectly with the spirit but the end result didn´t come out how I wanted to in the end. I had to remind myself that I just need to do things that Lord wants me to do, even though I don´t like it. Pride is just an easy way of showing that we are superior to the Lord and that we need to move farther from Him.

A good example of this is with Laman and Lemuel when Nephi talks to them in 1 Nephy 16:2. And it came to pass that I said unto them that I knew that I had spoken ahard things against the wicked, according to the truth; and the righteous have I justified, and testified that they should be lifted up at the last day; wherefore, the bguilty taketh the ctruth to be hard, for it dcutteth them to the very center.

What I have learned is that I always need to be on the look out for pride. It starts really small, when we start getting comfortable with our situation. And before we know it are like Laman or Lemuel getting angry because of the love that Christ has for us. Every decision that we make we need to stop and think. Am I doing this because I am wanting it, or benefiting from it? Or is this the desire of the Lord?

The church is true!!!!!!
