Holy cow! It's December!
Hey Everybody!
How is everyone doing? Everyone enjoying the cold weather of Maine, while I am
enjoying the warm subtrobical weather of Brazil? And you guys thought Florida
was nice...
So I am glad to hear that Thanksgiving was cool for you guys, going to the beach
sounds fun. Did you guys surf, or skim board down there? And Grant, seriously,
how come you didn´t get any cream soda for me. You know it´s to die for.
Let´s see here, thanksgiving is non-existent down here in Brazil. On thursday I
was doing a division with our Zone Leader, and we got a tupperware lunch with
rice, beans, and chicken. Also she gave us some Guarnana (a brazilian soda, that
is wicked good). It was a normal lunch, nothing to crazy. Thanksgiving was
really hot too. Nothing to crazy.
On Friday we had Zone Conference. This Conference was really good, President
really got everyone excited. It was a good ´pick me up´ that got me re-focused
on my purpose as a missionary. Which is really to invite others to come unto
Christ through the restored gospel, having faith in Jesus Christ, and his
atonement, repentance, baptism, recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and
enduring to the end. This is the doctine of Christ. We can find it in 3 Nephi
11, 3 Nephi 27, and 2 Nephi 31.
Transfers aren´t for another 2 more weeks, December 15th. But next week
President is going to let the whole mission go to the temple. I am so excited
because it will be my first time going outside of the CTM. And the session will
be in Portugeuse, things should be pretty interesting. Before the session, we
are going to have a special meeting in the temple, with the temple president
about temple covenants. It is going to be awesome.
So what is everyone´s plans for Christmas, and what are the ward´s plans? For
Christmas I don´t even know if I will be in the same area. But we will soon find
out.
I can´t believe it is already December, and that I have already been away from
home 7 months. Time is just flying right by. It´s funny how time works on the
mission. Times flys by, but when you look back to see what you have accomplished
it seems like it an eternity because of all things that you have done. In these
short few months, I have done so much, grown so much, and learned so much. I
know that in the next few months things will continue.
Well that is it, I love you all, and I miss you tons. Thank you so much for
everything!!! Until next week, same place, same time, same channel!
Love,
Elder Harry Kenning

A little quote that I picked up that I really liked about families
“Parents need to give children choices and should be prepared to appropriately
adjust some rules, thus preparing children for real-world situations. To do
this, parents must listen—really listen—to what their children are saying. They
must know what is important to each child. I learned this lesson years ago from
one of our daughters. She was only four or five at the time. She came into the
room, all excited. I was reading the newspaper, and she had something very much
on her mind that was important to her. And I was responding, ‘Yes, uh-huh,
uh-huh.’ All of a sudden the newspaper came crashing down with her two little
hands. She grabbed my face between her hands so that she could look me right in
the eye. This was a little four- or five-year-old teaching her father a great
lesson. ‘Daddy, you’re not listening to me.’ And she was right.”
