A little Drama
We discovered last week why there is a lengthy time between when you are called to Brazil and when you actually leave. I thought it was Heavenly Father giving me more time with my son. haha Nope. Turns out getting a visa to stay in the country is a little more involved than I had originally thought. I've never done this before, so I just had no idea. Harry followed the instructions to apply for his visa. He had some papers notorized and then sent them off to church headquarters. Oops....wrong place. Church headquarters calls us and says, "wait...these papers need to be mailed to the Secretary of State and then they mail them to us." So they sent them back and then Harry sent them on to the right place. Hopefully, they are in the right hands now. Only two months 7 days to go.
I've been trying hard to not get that overwhelmed weepy feeling as a mother gets sending her son off. Trying to stay strong. But when Kimball crys, I cry. Can't help it. Last night, Kimball breaks out in an hysterical cry. After we get it under control long enough for him to tell us what is wrong, he tells us that he is going to miss Harry. We also discovered through our conversation with Kimball that he is afraid that Harry will only speak Portugese and when he returns won't remember English. He is afraid that when he writes to him, he won't understand his letters. Kinda like it is either or, but it is impossible for someone to know TWO languages at once.
Well, it has been an interesting day. It was Grant's fourteenth birthday and Dan was made Bishop. At dinner, we couldn't decide who would have the golden plate?! Drama at the Kennings. (By the way, it was Grant who got it. :))
